YOUTH MINISTER POSITION

 

JOB SUMMARY:  St. Patrick of Heatherdowns  is a dynamic Catholic community seeking to grow our youth ministry program. The Youth Minister position is for those who are passionate about helping young people know Christ and his Church. The Youth Minister will facilitate the day to day operations of youth ministry and all activities for junior high (7th & 8th grades) and high school (9th -12th grades) youth at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Parish. Occasional programming for youth grades 4-6 should also be offered. The Youth Minister will also assist with Confirmation programming/retreat and Liturgy.  The Youth Minister will work under the guidance of the Director of Faith Formation (DFF) in visioning, planning, and professional formation. The guiding vision is that our parish is a place to belong for all youth!


REQUIREMENTS:

  • A faithful Catholic in good standing

  • Living an exemplary Christian life so as to serve as a positive role model

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church and Catholic theology

  • Computer as well as audio/visual literate

  • Must be certified or able to be certified in the Virtus program in the Diocese of Toledo prior to internship start date and maintain status throughout duration of internship

  • Available during evening and weekend hours with some flexible daytime office hours

 

 PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Connects with and relates to a wide variety of people

  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing

  • Able to motivate others, encourage faith, and build community 

  • Able to organize, manage time, and maintain a budget

  • Able to recruit, instruct, and supervise volunteers

  • Experience volunteering and/or working in a parish setting

  • Able to delegate and empower others to use their gifts

  • Experience and comfort level giving talks and/or teaching on matters of faith to youth ages 10-17.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Regular meetings with DFF for professional formation and planning

  • Facilitates weekly youth activities including spiritual growth, service, and community building

  • Creates opportunities for outreach and invitation to youth

  • Assists in recruiting and forming a core team of volunteers

  • Facilitates Jr. High Sacramental Formation Discussion Sessions, Confirmation retreat and assists with youth liturgies as needed

  • Other duties may be assigned

  • The Youth Minister is expected to work 37-40 hours per week

  • The Position is year round

KINDERGARTEN TEACHER

St. Pat’s serves students in grades PreK - 8th grade and enrolls 300 students with a professional staff of 25 teachers. Catholic education is at the heart of the evangelizing mission of St. Pat’s as “A Place to Belong”.

QUALIFICATIONS: The individual must have a valid Ohio teaching license. Candidates must have a desire to teach in a Christian environment, have the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students, work collaboratively with faculty members, and have good communication and technology skills.

3RD GRADE TEACHER

MUSIC TEACHER

JOB SUMMARY: St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic School seeks a Music Teacher starting in the 2022-2023 school year. St. Pat’s serves students in grades PreK - 8th grade and enrolls 300 students with a professional staff of 25 teachers. Catholic education is at the heart of the evangelizing mission of St. Pat’s as “A Place to Belong”.

The candidate should be professional, disciplined, and supportive of a safe and positive learning environment. This teacher will be expected to plan and implement an appropriate music curriculum for various grade levels, as well as actively collaborate with the school community. The candidate must be able to teach music and choir, prepare for school liturgies, and support the school mission through music and song.

QUALIFICATIONS: BA Degree, preferably in Music. Music instrument knowledge is a plus. Ohio  Department  of  Education  certificate is required, temporary or professional, or be eligible to become certified. Experience caring for and engaging with 

children. Excellent classroom management. Must be supportive and respectful of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; experience in Roman Catholic environment preferred. Must have knowledge and familiarity of the Roman Catholic liturgy and an ability to integrate the liturgy with musical skills so that the liturgical music component of worship can be celebrated.
Ability to communicate musical concepts and instruction with oral and written communications skills.

TECHNOLOGY TEACHER

St. Pat’s serves students in grades PreK - 8th grade and enrolls 300 students with a professional staff of 25 teachers. The individual must have a valid Ohio teaching license. Candidates must have a desire to teach in a Christian environment, have the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students, work collaboratively with faculty members, and have good communications skills.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Use a rigorous technology curriculum that incorporates both Google Applications and Microsoft Office.

 

  • Cooperates with and participates in the planning and evaluating of school programs.

  • Cooperates with and assists the principal in improving the curriculum and instructional program.

  • Design, develop, and implement appropriate computer instructional materials.

  • Have a strong understanding of current and evolving technologies.

CUSTODIAL MAINTENANCE WORKER

JOB SUMMARY: Perform general custodial duties including but not limited to mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, burnishing floors, clean carpets, change light bulbs, emptying trash, and washing windows/glass areas. Provide set-up, teardown and clean-up for meetings and other parish functions. Use custodial checklist daily to ensure accurate and timely completion of sanitation duties. The position will require evening and weekend hours.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Must successfully pass the required background check and all requirements of the Diocesan Program for Child and Youth Protection prior to employment and maintain a satisfactory background check throughout employment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
